Nonprofits often have large endowments with investments all over the world. China has historically been an important investment destination. Nonprofits with partners in China may be unaware that they are working with organizations that have ties to the Chinese Communist Party and sanctioned authorities. For example, many Chinese government projects related to poverty- alleviation, especially in Xinjiang, are actually forced labor programs.
